Heads Up Eyes Open | Talib Kweli x Rick Ross x Yummy Bingham
I know Talib Kweli has been continuously making music over the years, but I know it's been a hot minute since I personally have heard any music from him. Even though his music has always had an activist message/been socially conscious, he previously has found a way to still have mainstream success. That could be attributed to the fact that about a decade and a half ago, the music game and its audience was more acceptable of those types of messages in music. Fans need not worry though because he's still staying true to his artistry with this new single. I must say I was surprised to see #Rozay himself featured on the track because I just can't imagine under what circumstances they not only crossed paths but came up with this collaboration. Ross held it down as he often excels on these slowed down, smooth-sounding types of production. The track also features a singer-songwriter Yummy Bingham. Although I am unfamiliar, she has a solid discography that makes her far from a newcomer. I love the tone of her voice and definitely have on my to-do list to check out more of her solo work. Overall it's a nice song and maybe having Ross on it will get Talib back on the mainstream, urban playlists, even though he probably couldn't care less.
