Real Love | Silvastone x Sarkodie
Just when I thought I was on my afrobeats game, I stumbled upon this new album from an artist named Silvastone. I had never heard of him before and even as closely as I follow the genre, I can’t say that I’ve ever heard any of his music either. That’s the beautiful thing about music: when you’re late to the party, you’re still right on time. Silvastone is a triple threat in that he sings, writes and produces. Based out of the UK with roots from both Ghana and Sierra Leone, upon first listen, it seems that this background helps diversify his sound a bit. This song caught my attention because of the feature with Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie, who I’ve been a fan of since getting into afrobeats. And apparently the two are no strangers to collabs with one another. The production has a touch of the afrobeats sound, but also gives me a hip-hop feel as well. Sarkodie takes the lead with his verse and he executes his flow perfectly on the production, I kind of wish I heard a little more from him. However, hearing this made me want to listen to the rest of the album and hopefully, I can add him to my ever growing homeland playlist.
