Pad Lock | 21 Savage
Happy 2019, the music geek is officially back! After taking a mini creative vacay for the holidays, I am back and ready to get into some new music. Unfortunately, with this being the first full week of the new year, as expected, the new releases are far and few between. Since that’s the case, I figured I’d go back a couple weeks back to the new release from 21 Savage. His new album, I Am > I Was, was probably one the bigger releases to close out 2018 and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed and am still enjoying this album. This song is one of my repeats from the project and shows a little of the growth that you can hear in 21 throughout the album. The growth is apparent in him not just as a man, but as an artist as well. From liking about 2 songs from his debut album, Issa, to liking all but maybe 2 songs on this project, I would say that’s a pretty quick turnaround since those projects are only about a year and a half apart. From production selection to feature placement, it’s an all around solid project worth giving a listen, even if you didn’t consider yourself to be a fan of 21. This album will continue to be on repeat for a minute, and hopefully he’ll follow up with some dope visuals for a few of the tracks.
